Primary Midwife: Eudine Stevens, CPM, LM
My dream at an early age was to help mamas and babies. It evolved through the years from LD&R nurse to midwife. As a teenager I was introduced to home birth, midwifery and breastfeeding which was the conception of my midwifery dream.
Before I could become a midwife, God needed me to grow and mature while I raised my family. He needed to teach me lessons of dependence on Him and to have a merciful, kinder and more compassionate heart. These were learned through the hard knocks of life.
In 1984, I started my journey of learning herbs, massage and bodywork and thus entered the world of complimentary health and alternative medicine. I became a registered massage therapist in 1998. I have been doing bodywork for 30+ years with 4000+ hours of experience. Those years were preparing me to intuitively feel, know and understand many advanced massage techniques that benefit my midwifery practice. I have training in Swedish massage, trigger point therapy, intermediate/deep tissue work, sports massage, acupressure, reflexology. Doing injury rehab therapy for 12 years refined these skills. These skills give me an advantage when facing shoulder dystocia or other presentations of delivery to aid in a baby’s safe arrival.
I am also a NARM approved preceptor as well as maintaining a preceptor relationship with Mercy in Action, NMI and MCU.
My own midwifery training took me to Midwives College of Utah distance learning program. I attended from September 2011 until December 2014 at which time I graduated with a BSM of midwifery. I completed over 3000 hours of clinical training before I graduated. I am a licensed midwife in SD and I have national certification giving me the credentials of CPM, LM, BSM. I have attended 220+ births. I was licensed in since WA July 2015.- August 2022. I received my SD license Nov 2021. I serve Aberdeen, Redfield, Huron, Watertown and Britton SD and surrounding area.
I have been happily married to my best friend and companion for over 30 years. He knew from the beginning of our relationship I would become a midwife someday. He wholeheartedly supports me and stands behind me as I come and go all hours of the day and night. He makes sure I have food to eat when arriving home late. He is an awesome father to our 4 children.
For pleasure I like to canoe, hike, read, just be with friends and family, take long road trips, and work in my flower and herb garden.
